The Majestic Elk is a premier hunt at the Murphy Ranch in northwestern Colorado. With an Agner Mountain RFW Landowner Voucher, hunters can use high-caliber rifles at 50-300 yards, targeting 24-26 inch vitals in this moderate physical activity (scale 7) hunt. Recommended gear includes binoculars, shooting sticks, a field dressing kit, and a cow call. Elk typically travel in groups ranging from 2 to 100, with "satellite" bulls often wandering between herds. They are most active during the cooler morning and evening hours, and their excellent eyesight, hearing, and sense of smell - natural defenses against predators like mountain lions, wolves, and black bears - will challenge even the most skilled hunters. Plan your approach carefully to avoid going home with just "tag soup"!
